Sunday Rant: People Tork Me Off! (part one)

I'm sure upon reading this some of you are going to just pish posh my thoughts aside because you think I'm either being hormonal, cranky or off my meds.  Well, I can assure you the latter is not true.  It is just hard being the type of person who has not once had the testicular fortitude to tell someone how I really feel.  I have had user friends galore, been walked on, talked down to, yelled at, you name it.  And I just sit back and accept it as part of life.  Do I wish I knew how to stick up for myself or stick up for what I think is right?  Absolutely.  But my fear of confrontation and/or being murdered in my sleep keeps me from saying a peep.

Also, let me say that I am not a prude.  I consider myself to be extremely open minded and I accept people for their flaws (as I expect people to accept me for mine.)  It takes a lot for me to completely drop all communication with someone.

Anyway, on to my point.  It amazes me how sad the human race is becoming.  I mean, there's the obvious that there are people murdering each other and that itself is ridiculous.  But, I'm referring more to things on a smaller scale.  For example, the other day on Facebook someone was bragging about driving home drunk and made a joke about being a wonderful role model.  Yes, because putting other people's lives in danger because you're too dumb/cheap to find another way home is REEEEAAALLLY hilarious!  People who tell me that college is the time for partying baffle me.  Really?  If I wanted to spend 40k on a party, it better be a lot more fun than any party I've ever been to!  And hey, if you're gonna party it up, just be sure to finish school while you're there.  Oh, you didn't?  Gee, somehow your theory that college was for partying didn't pan out because you missed the part about getting a degree at the end.

And finally, let me get on my high horse about drugs.  Again, I'm not some holier-than-thou person (although I'm probably coming across as one now.)  I've made it 30 years without drugs.  I have three older siblings and I'd wager a big chunk of money that NONE of them have done drugs.  I'm talking anything above alcohol.  Man, how have we made it this far in life without doing drugs?  Gosh, what a waste of life we have all had!

I get it- people smoke pot.  I used to be frustrated with the idea, but I quickly realized more people were doing it than I realized.  I've accepted it.  I'm okay if they legalize it.  I guess I'm a little clueless on its purpose, but I don't avoid people knowing that they do it.  And I've been fortunate that the friends I've had that do, respect me enough not to try to push it on me.

Part Two of this rant will post tomorrow... I bet you can't wait!!!

Saturday Rant: Old Lady Busybody Edition

You know what kind of people I can't stand?  No, not those... no, not those either... okay, okay, so there's a lot on my list.  But today I am especially referring to Old Lady Busybodies!

Case in point:  yesterday, David and I took a group of 7 kids to the pool at our apartment complex.  First, you need to know that WHEN I WAS SIGNING THE LEASE, I asked a million question.  One of those questions was, "how many people are we allowed to bring to the pool?"  I asked this in case my kids wanted to bring friends.  I was specifically told that you were allowed one guest PER PERSON LIVING IN THE APARTMENT.  Now, if that was not the rule, so be it, but I know what I was told because I specifically asked the question for a reason.  I was also told that if the pool was empty that the rule can be fudged a bit.  These words I remember.  Now, I didn't say I THOUGHT I remembered them.  No, that's what happened.

So, yesterday as aforementioned, I ventured to the pool with 7 kids in tow.  So, if there was myself, David and my two children, all of us whom live in the apartment, that would reason that there could be 8 of us.  Well, one was a baby who I would have had to hold the whole time, but I figured I'd see how full the pool was.

So, before entering the building, I told all the children they had to be silent until we got into the pool because people were busy and didn't want it to be noisy.  All kids complied with what I said!  To get to the pool you have to walk through the fitness center.  So, through we marched, quietly and happily.  The only person in the fitness center was an old lady with bright red hair (like she was fooling anyone.)  I smiled at her, David smiled at her and she glared at us in return.  We get into the pool room and I remind the kids they can talk but no screaming.  They were all excited and started getting into the pool as did I.  David looks out the window at the office and he sees the old lady go in and start talking.  He tells me that she is probably complaining.  Sure enough, one of the office ladies comes in and tells us that we have too many people.  Mind you, we are the ONLY ones in the pool.  I tell her that I was told that it was one guest per resident.  She rebutted that it was 2 guests per APARTMENT.  I wasn't about to argue, but that is NOT what I was told.  And I reminded her that we were the only ones even using the pool and her response was that if other people walked by and saw how many kids were in the pool they would be turned off and not want to come in.  That's their problem!  If they don't wanna be around 7 kids, they won't want to be around 4 kids.  Because people like that are douchebags.  If the kids are bad I have no problem making them get out and sit.  I don't tolerate obnoxious children.  Any of you that know me, know this.  So, because I hate confrontation, I agreed to send 3 away.  But, I was PI$$ED.  And guess what!  The old busybody never got in the pool.  So it didn't matter anyway!!!  And by the time we left there were 5 other people in the pool and not one of them cared that we were there.  EW!  What kind of people purposely try to screw other people out of joy in life?  I told David I was going to look at the sign in sheet to see the old lady's apartment number and leave a flaming bag of dog poo at her front door.  He said it would be more funny if it were a flaming diaper, but he stopped me nonetheless.  (Spoilsport!)

Long story short.  I hope karma gets this lady hit by a school bus.  Jerk!

Oh, and the apartment complex is The Pointe and is owned by Cunat.  Yeah, that's right.  That's what they get for LYING TO MY FACE.  Good luck getting us to stay another second after our lease is up.  Nazis!

Tuesday Rant

Okay, so since starting on my Lamictal (shout out to GlaxoSmithKline), my rant sessions have been few and far between.  In fact, despite my wanting to rant right now, I feel pretty calm... and pretty dang tired, but I blame that on my friend's cats that are temporarily bunking with me and my boyfriend's nephew waking up 30 times last night.  Anywho, onto my rant:

First, the heat.  What... in... the... freak?  I mean, 100 degrees and humid??  Are you kidding me???  I don't mind the warm weather, but the humidity makes me want to take a sledge hammer and pound some skulls.  I'd eventually like to move to Maine, I think, but I'm thinking it is humid there as well.  Although the Atlantic Ocean is quite chilly, sooooo... I have wanderlust, boo.

Second part of my rant will not involve names.  I just find it humorous that I received a voicemail the other day (ON MY PHONE) where I was told that said person was trying to get a hold of me all weekend, but since I had blocked them on Facebook, it was not possible.  Okay, let me get this right... you are able to call my phone, but you can't get a hold of me any other way than Facebook??  And I was informed that if I unblock them, they can get in touch with me... *smacking forehead* Oy vey!

Third rant:  why can't people just do what I want when I want and not be upset about it?

Well, that's my rant for today.  I'm always here to listen to your complaints... or pretend I did and nod in agreement.

Saturday Rant

You know what has been really bugging me lately? Selfish people. I know they say that people are inherently selfish, but I just can't believe how little thought some people give to others. Now, I'm not some holier than thou completely unselfish person, but I would say I do a pretty good job of trying to think of other people before I make a decision or say something. There are several things that have happened recently that just leave me baffled. It can't be a generational thing, as I had originally thought because it seems to span every age group. For instance, apparently high school girls these days feel it is common practice to stand their friends up, to make plans and then leave someone hanging all night. That does not just happen with high school girls, believe me.

And then what about professionally? Why is everyone so obsessed with criticizing and passing judgment? And it seems like the people who are in positions of authority NEVER think of anyone else's feelings. Hey, here's a thought, before you spew your negative attitude, why not ask the person for an explanation instead of immediately condemning them?

I'm purposely trying to be vague here because I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, but I felt as though it might be cathartic to vent about how much it pisses me off lately that there are so many people around me that are completely selfish. As I've said before, I've been dealing with assholes my whole life and I will continue to, but come on, people! It's okay to think about someone besides yourself for a change.

Along these lines, I'm thinking one of my New Year Resolutions will be to stand up for myself once in awhile.

What is the Deal, World?

It's nothing new, but lately it seems like more and more in the news, people are killing each other and taking away innocent lives.

What is the deal?

Has evolution not completely turned us into humans? Do some people still have that base animal sensibility that renders them incapable of having morals and makes them think that they have the right to take another life?

It scares me. To think that my family could just be walking down the street and someone could start shooting. I understand we're in a recession. I understand life is hard for some people. But what makes one person think that it is okay to take another person's life?

And what about all the people who kill their families or their spouses? Have they not heard of divorce? What's worse, having your family think less of you because you moved off to another state and left your wife and kids alone or for them to not speak to you because you murdered them?

It's senseless and stupid and idiocy annoys me! I can't imagine what these other countries think of us... sitting here, gluttonous, money hungry and indulgent, with nothing better to do than murder each other for no reason.

Okay, rant over. Please resume your normal daily functions.
