I will ...Thanks for the comment (just now saw it!) I will definitely try the physical activity then at some point. Right now my 2 year old is just building a vocabulary and it will probably be a little while before I can get him to do these types of things. I would love to find a way to channel his energy, though!

And with the food- I was raised that every meal had to have a meat, potato and vegetable and it is really hard for me to break out of that mold with my kids. I usually feel like I have to do a meat, carb and veggie OR fruit. But I agree, handing a kid a bag of goldfish does not a meal make.hamsterkittenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05216300157534802197noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5835320734736708175.post-60137574722118016762014-07-10T03:30:20.845-05:002014-07-10T03:30:20.845-05:00Boy oh boy do we agree on a lot of points.
1. Span...Boy oh boy do we agree on a lot of points.
1. Spanking. It just opens the door to abuse, learned behaviors we don't want in our kids, and all kinds of negativity. I prefer timeouts too. Plus if you have a kid with a lot of extra energy (and gosh they already all have so much, just like we did back then)... I give them a physical activity. I say, oooh you are being a little energy ball and we need to work that out, and I tell them to climb stairs, or do push ups. Plus if we are in public and we cannot do an immediate time out, it is usually push up time.
2. Picky Pants Eating - you have found a happy medium. Gosh I wish more parents would do so. One of my god kids's mom is really bad, she thinks feeding her kid goldfish crackers is a meal. Ugh. Her kid never says no to anything I put on my plate. She immediately wants her own. Salami, pickles, olives, asparagus, beets, brussel sprouts... she eats everything.
3. I can only say YESYESYES. I am a fan of a lot of educational games and even make those a reward.
4. It may be a little rude to pull out a book, and I know I was the weird kid with a book, but that did not stop me from being garrulous and social. So I have no problem letting them read.
5. I cannot believe how bad the spoiling has gotten. I had to drop a friend recently. I just cannot take what she is doing to her kids. Her daughter specifically. I am at the point where if she does not return the over $1000 of electronics and toiletries that her daughter stole... wow. No punishment. I am... no words....
6. I do like to make them repeat back to me what I have said. I also think those parents who punish crying are crazy.
I enjoyed your common sense post.lavendersbluegreenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03560578331028482380noreply@blogger.com
