You know what I love?  Well, other than that... no, other than that.... geez, I'll just tell you already!  I LOVE when movies that I previously enjoyed on DVD are released on blu-ray.  Why do I love this you ask- because I enjoy watching some of my favorites in high definition, fantastic, super human quality, that's why, silly gooses!

Shakespeare’s beloved romantic romp has never been more fun than in Academy Award® Nominee Kenneth Branagh’s electrifying adaptation featuring an all-star cast!

Love faces hilarious, sexy challenges when one young couple (Kate Beckinsale and Robert Sean Leonard) battles treachery at the hand of a sinister friend (Keanu Reeves), while another couple (Branagh and Oscar® Winner Emma Thompson) battles — each other! With help from a prince (Oscar® Winner Denzel Washington) and a bumbling constable (Michael Keaton), the lovers just might prevail in this rich comedy that wonderfully “casts the battle of the sexes in the form of an elegant dance” (The New York Times).

DE-LOVELY SYNOPSIS:
Oscar® Winner Kevin Kline (The Ice Storm) is “perfection” (Rolling Stone) as the legendary performer Cole Porter in this film that offers “knockout performances” (Gene Shalit) from Natalie Cole, Elvis Costello, Sheryl Crow, Diana Krall, Alanis Morissette and Robbie Williams, and “melancholy, wit and style to burn” (The Philadelphia Inquirer).

From Paris to Venice to Broadway to Hollywood, the lives of Cole (Kline) and Linda (Ashley Judd) Porter were never less than glamorous and wildly unconventional. And though Cole’s thirst for life strained their marriage, Linda never stopped being his muse, inspiring some of the greatest songs of the twentieth century.

MYSTIC PIZZA FAST FACTS:

MYSTIC PIZZA SYNOPSIS:
“Filled with heart and humor” (The New York Times), Mystic Pizza charts the lives and loves of three unforgettable waitresses in a little town called Mystic. Starring Julia Roberts, Annabeth Gish and Lili Taylor, Mystic Pizza “has all the right ingredients of a main-course favorite” (Video Movie Guide).

For sexy Daisy (Roberts), her sensible sister Kat (Gish) and their wisecracking friend Jojo (Taylor), the summer after high school is a summer they'll never forget. Slinging pizza at a local restaurant, the three girls share their hopes, dreams and plans for escaping their small town. And when Daisy is swept off her feet by a wealthy young man named Charles, they all think she's found her ticket out. But when the girls learn that Charles isn't the man they think he is, they discover that with friendship and self-respect, not only will they find real happiness (and a way out of Mystic)...they just might find themselves!

BENNY & JOON FAST FACTS:
Street Date:                                    April 5, 2011
UPC:                                                 883904233282
Rating:                                             PG
Total Run Time:                              98 minutes

BENNY & JOON SYNOPSIS:
Oscar® Nominee Johnny Depp, Mary Stuart Masterson (TV’s Law & Order SVU ) and Aidan Quinn (Practical Magic) star in this hilarious, quirky comedy. Wildly eccentric Joon (Masterson) can be very charming — especially when she takes her medicine. Long under the thumb of her overprotective brother, Benny (Quinn), Joon craves her independence. During an unusual poker game, Joon loses her hand — but wins Sam (Depp), a whimsical misfit who soon charms his way into her heart. Now if they can only find a romantic interest for her brother, love just might stand a chance in this charming, delightful film that also features Oliver Platt (Frost /Nixon) and Academy Award® Nominee Julianne Moore.

With stunning new video and audio quality, each of these titles has new and exciting things that add to the reason for owning them on blu-ray instead of DVD.  Many include special features as well, although those are offered in standard definition.

Family Time Factor:  For this blog, I reviewed Benny & Joon and Mystic Pizza.  Both are fairly mild in terms of graphicness and profanity, but both contain sexual references or acts, so I would not recommend them for 12 or under.  Great date night movies or movies for a girls night with friends!!  (Johnny Depp is hot no matter how weird they make him!!)  And it's fun to see Julia Roberts before she was leading lady accredited.

MOTR Grade: B+

All these titles are currently available for purchase on Blu-Ray!!!
