Burn Notice Season 2 Blu-Ray Review

The concept of Burn Notice is pretty interesting and reminds me a bit of the Bourne series (Matt Damon) which I also enjoyed. Michael Weston (Jeffrey Donovan) is a former covert intelligence op who has been burned. That means that he was stripped of his identity and left for dead by the agency he worked for. We learn in the first season that he has no idea what went wrong and must attempt to form some sort of life with only his intelligence and the help of his ex-girlfriend and good friend.

Season Two starts with Michael trapped in the back of a trailer surrounded by gunshots. His life just gets more and more crazy after that. In order to make ends meet, he works as an unlicensed private investigator type who will do many an unscrupulous act for money. He uses this money to survive and also to help fund his own mission to find out who is responsible for his burn and tracking down answers.

I love the characters in Burn Notice! Other than Michael, there is his "ex" girlfriend (they seem pretty into each other) Fiona (Gabrielle Anwar) and his good friend Sam (Bruce Campbell). Both are also former operative types from different organizations and are willing to help Michael in his quest. Each character has such a quirky element to them (I adore Bruce Campbell) and their odd relationships provide quite the humorous aspect to the show!

It's worthwhile to own on blu-ray mostly for the action sequences. Fire, explosions, bullets flying... they all just look so much better in high definition!

Family Time Factor: Not something for the toddlers, but I think it is interesting and would probably appeal to ages 10 and over. It's on USA, so it is not crazy inappropriate.

MOTR Grade: B+
