Marley & Me Review

I know that everyone who has seen this movie says "oh my gosh, that's so me!" So, I won't say that, but I will say that I love LoVe LOVED this movie!!! My husband and I had dogs first, then kids and the plot was totally understandable! (And I also have a dog that freaks out about storms!)

Jenny (Jennifer Aniston) and John Grogan (Owen Wilson) are writers who move from the Midwest to Florida in pursuit of different weather and a new life together. When John starts to suspect Jen is having "empty womb" syndrome, he decides to surprise her with a puppy for her birthday. Enter Marley. He starts out as a puppy that chews everything and wreaks havoc on their property and grows into... a dog that chews everything and wreaks havoc on their property! Through the ups and downs of their marriage, three children and work related changes, Marley is with them along the way.

As aforementioned, I LOVED this movie. I can't say it rates top 5 (sorry, Anchorman is a tough film to live up to) but it was super cute and just made me keep nodding my head and saying, "That's so true!"

In case you didn't know, the movie is based on the book of the same title that was written by John Grogan. He was originally a columnist and had spent many a word in his column talking about Marley.

Family Time Factor
: DATE MOVIE ALERT!!! Not really one you can watch with the younger children, it is awesome for after the kids have gone to bed or while they are with a sitter. There isn't anything too racy or raunchy and I didn't even notice profanity, but I don't feel that kids or teens could really relate to the themes of careers, marriage, having children. Men AND women (that love or have owned dogs) can really enjoy this movie!

MOTR Grade: A

It releases on DVD March 31!
